The best e-bike for Uber Eats —
and the $20-a-week shortcut

There’s no Uber-only bike — the same delivery e-bikes win on any app. What’s Uber-specific is the setup: its own lease deal, and the gear New York law makes you carry.

What's the best e-bike for Uber Eats?

The best e-bike for Uber Eats is the best e-bike for any delivery — there’s no Uber-only model, and Uber sets no bike-spec rule. Buying? In our table the Lectric XPedition 2.0 has the biggest rack at the lowest price; the Aventon Level 3 is the lighter ride — our full spec table has all eight. What is Uber-specific is getting on one cheap: Uber’s own Zoomo deal rents a UL-certified e-bike for $20/week in New York (through Dec 31, 2026), and NYC couriers get an Uber-issued vest and ID they must carry by law.

No Uber bike. A $20-a-week Uber deal.

Uber surfaces an official Zoomo rental on its own site. New York only, on a UL-certified Zoomo Zero with a free lock, GPS, phone holder and free repairs.

Uber × Zoomo plan Price Commitment
Pro $20 / week 12-week commitment · $99 refundable deposit
Boost $25 / week 6-week commitment
Flex $35 / week 2-week commitment

Read off Uber’s and Zoomo’s own pages on 2 June 2026; promotion valid through Dec 31, 2026, New York City. One wrinkle to know: Uber’s offer page lists 19 as the minimum age to rent the bike, while Zoomo’s page says 18 — the cutoff depends on which you read. Last checked 2 June 2026.

The Uber-specific setup

Two things catch Uber Eats bike couriers out. In New York City, Uber issues you a branded reflective vest and a photo ID — both required by law; you request them in the app (Documents hub → add a mailing address) and they ship in 1–2 weeks. And Uber’s insulated-bag sizes are its own: Standard 15 × 12 × 5 in, Pizza 18 × 18 × 5 in, Large 21.5 × 13.75 × 13.75 in — though any insulated bag is accepted. To start, pick “bicycle or on foot” at signup; switching your delivery mode later takes you offline for about three days.

Take the Zoomo deal if…

you’re in New York, testing the work, or can’t put money down. $20/week on a certified bike with repairs and theft sorted is the lowest weekly start we found — and it keeps you legal on the UL rule. Over a year of steady riding, though, the weekly fee passes a bike’s price.

Buy your own if…

you ride most days, plan to keep going, or you’re outside New York, where the Zoomo deal doesn’t reach. Against the weekly fee, a delivery e-bike from around $1,300 is recouped within months of steady riding, and financing splits it into monthly payments you own at the end.

Which bike, and how to pay for it

The deal is Uber’s. The bike is yours to pick.

Uber’s Zoomo deal gets you started; it doesn’t pick your bike if you’d rather own one. Compare the eight delivery-grade e-bikes on range, rack and battery, then — if you’re buying — run the real monthly cost of financing one against a year of $20-a-week rental.

Best e-bike for Uber Eats: common questions

Is there a best e-bike specifically for Uber Eats?

No — the same things make an e-bike good for any delivery: shift-long range, a rack that carries a full bag, a removable battery, and brakes that stop a loaded bike. Uber imposes no bike-spec rule of its own. In our table, the Lectric XPedition 2.0 has the biggest rack at the lowest price; for a lighter ride, the Aventon Level 3. The delivery e-bike table compares all eight.

Does Uber Eats have an e-bike deal?

Yes — Uber surfaces an official Zoomo rental on its own site. The Pro plan is $20/week with a $99 refundable deposit on a 12-week commitment; Boost is $25/week (6 weeks) and Flex is $35/week (2 weeks). You get a UL-certified Zoomo Zero with a free lock, GPS, phone holder and free repairs, from Zoomo's New York store. The promotion runs through December 31, 2026.

Do I need a vest to deliver for Uber Eats by bike in NYC?

Yes. In New York City, Uber issues bike and e-bike couriers an Uber-branded reflective vest and an Uber-assigned photo ID, and says both are required by law — the vest must be worn as your outer layer. You request them in the app under the Documents hub by adding a mailing address; they ship in about 1–2 weeks.

What size delivery bag does Uber Eats require?

Uber says your bag must be insulated, in one of three sizes: Standard (15 × 12 × 5 in), Pizza (18 × 18 × 5 in), or Large (21.5 × 13.75 × 13.75 in). Any insulated bag is acceptable, even one branded by another company, and it's only mandatory for orders the restaurant flags as insulated-bag orders.

How old do you have to be to deliver for Uber Eats by bike?

18 to deliver by bicycle, per Uber's signup page (a car requires 19). One wrinkle: Uber's own Zoomo offer page lists 19 as the minimum to rent the Zoomo bike, while Zoomo's page says 18 — so the rental age depends on which page you read. You need a government photo ID (not a driver's licence) and pass a background check.

Does Uber Eats Pro include a bike discount?

No. Uber Eats Pro's perks are fuel, tax tools, roadside assistance and retail discounts — there's no bike, e-bike or gear discount in it, and Uber's gear store sells only bags and winter items. The Zoomo rental is a separate partnership, and it's the bike deal Uber actually offers.
