Texas e-bike rebates in 2026
Texas has no statewide e-bike rebate. The help is local and tied to your utility: Austin Energy pays up to $600 back on a new e-bike, or up to $1,300 on its income-qualified Customer Assistance Program; the City of Denton offers 50% up to $750 to its electric customers. Both are reimbursements — you buy first, then claim. There’s no federal e-bike credit either.

Texas e-bike programs — current status
Sort by amount or status. Tap any program for its official page.
Closed programs stay listed, marked closed — so you’re not chasing a dead program.
| Level | Top value | Status | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Austin, TX | Utility | Up to $600 / $1,300 | Higher tier for Customer Assistance Program members | Open | First-come; up to 3 rebates a year | Official page |
| Denton, TX | City | 50% up to $750 | No income limit | Open | Funds remaining as of May 2026; first-come | Official page |
Most of these are tied to a state, city or utility — confirm you’re eligible on the program’s own page before you buy, and check the bike meets any certification it requires. Last checked 2 June 2026. Full Austin Energy guide.
A rebate covers part of it. Spread the rest.
Even the best of these rarely covers the whole bike. Whatever’s left, you can spread out — and because the rebate shrinks what you borrow, you pay interest on a smaller number.
What Texas riders ask
Does Texas have an e-bike rebate?
Not statewide. Texas has no state e-bike rebate, but some city utilities do — Austin Energy (up to $600, or $1,300 income-qualified) and the City of Denton (50% up to $750). Each is limited to that utility’s customers.
What is the Austin Energy e-bike rebate?
Austin Energy’s E-Ride rebate pays up to $600 back on a new e-bike, or up to $1,300 on its Customer Assistance Program. It’s tiered by price and paid as a reimbursement — our full Austin Energy guide has the price tiers.
Does CPS Energy or Houston offer an e-bike rebate?
No. We found no e-bike rebate at CPS Energy (San Antonio), Houston, Dallas, El Paso Electric, Fort Worth or Plano. San Antonio runs a small income-qualified voucher pilot through the City, not the utility.
Is there a federal e-bike tax credit?
No. The federal E-BIKE Act has been introduced several times but never passed, so there’s no national e-bike credit to fall back on in Texas.
